My 6 Step Prep Routine

Updated: Apr 1, 2018

Hi everyone, I am going to share my 6 step prepping routine with you guys. So basically, this is everything I put on my face before any makeup application! It is VERY important to start with a clean and moisturized face before you start applying makeup. You definitely don't have to use as many products as I do, but this is just what works for me. The key to your foundation looking smooth and flawless is to have a good base. Down below are the products I use!!!

Mac fix + is the BEST!! I have used this product for years, I swear by it. You only need a couple pumps to your face and neck to feel refreshed and ready for the day. This is the first step I use everyday. You can get this at Macy's, Nordstrom's, Ulta, or of course the Mac Store. The big bottle retails for $26.00 and the small size retails for $12.00.

The moisturizer I use is the Mac Strobe Cream Hydrant Lumineux. I found this moisturizer at Ulta in the sample size section and thought I'd try it out and I love everything about it. Its not a thick formula, it blends into my face and feels light on my skin, like a good moisturizer should. The full size retails at $33.00. The smaller size retails for $12.00. I've had the smaller one for about six months and i still haven't run out. A little goes a long way with this moisturizer.

I am just recently trying out Milk products, so far so good! This is the Milk hydrating oil. I learned about this product through Jesssouthern, that is her instagram. She is a Makeup Artist. She swears by it, and so do I. I put this product all over my face, and then rub it in a little with my fingers to press into the skin. This oil gives my face so much moisture and revives my skin. It's changed my life completely. If you have more normal to oily skin, I wouldn't recommend this product to you. This product is good for someone who has more dry to normal skin types or someone who is looking for something more hydrating to use before makeup application. This retails at $24.00. I got mine at Sephora!

This is the Milk cooling water stick. I wasn't sure if I would like this or not, but a little under the eyes helps a lot. It feels cold and wakes you up which is good for the women waking up early for school and or work. Overall, I like this product, it's not my favorite product but i do like it for those days I need a little help waking up! It retails for $14.00 at Sephora.

This is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter! I LOVE this product. It gives you a glow and primes the face like you need it too. It's never let me down, I use this everyday. It is not too oily to the skin. It blends correctly, all you need is a little to put on your fingers, make sure you rub it with your fingers first to warm it up and then lightly press into your skin all around your face. Make sure not to rub or drag down on the skin. I would recommend this product for any skin type. It retails for $18.00.

Last but not least, this is Soap & Glory's Instant Visual Flaw Softening Illumintor! I use this every day, I mix this in with my foundation and it does everything it promises too. I've used this product for about two years now, and i can't live without it. My foundation doesn't go on the same without using this product! Soap & Glory has amazing products and this is certainly one of them. It retails for $15.99 at Ulta, but it recently came out at Target for only $12.99, which is amazing for loyal Target customers like myself!
