SKINCARE 101 Q&A
WELCOME BACK YOU GUYS! I'm so excited to write this post, because ever since I started school, I've gotten SO many questions about skincare! & Now I'm here to answer them for you! Look no further... Here we go!!!
1. What is the most important part of skincare?
Every part of skincare is very very important, but wearing sunscreen everyday is the most important. I can't tell you how many clients I see that have a lot of hyper pigmentation and sun damage, and It all can be avoided by just wearing sunscreen and wearing the right sunscreen. After you put your moisturizer on every morning, apply sunscreen. I'd suggest a SPF 50, that's what I use!
2. How do I fix my dry and damaged skin?
Well If this isn't the most common question I get, then I don't know what is... The best way to start fixing your skin, is to buy the proper home care to start using everyday. A cleanser, exfoliator, a mask and a moisturizer and of course sunscreen. The second step would be to find an esthetician and start going! A facial every 3 weeks will also help your skin tremendously. Another option would be to start getting LED treatments with your esthetician, the benefits of LED are: boosts collagen and elastin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improving uneven skin tone and brightening the skin. Start using Vitamin C. I'll link a good one for you!
3. "My skin is dry and oily at the same time, why is this?"
This is a lot more common thank you think, this is usually an oily skin type that is very dehydrated. Remember dry and dehydrated are two different things. You probably need to exfoliate and start exfoliating every week, twice a week. Check your products at home, what you're using might be too harsh on the skin, leaving it irritated, which leads to breakouts. A jojoba oil could be very good for this skin type, this oil won't clog pores.
4. "I have dehydrated eyes and puffy eyes when I wake up, how do fix or avoid this?"
Dehydrated eyes are also very common. It's so important to use an eye cream every day. Self massage the eye area before bed, or use the facial roller to depuff the eyes before bed and then again when you wake up. Get a good moisturizer!! Moisturize all over the face and the neck. Put a soft cold pack over the eyes and let it sit for fifteen to thirty minutes, this can be super helpful and beneficial.
5. "I have dry skin, and nothing helps."
I have dry skin, and here's what can help. Drink water, and more water, and more water! Stop taking very hot showers, that can be very harsh on the skin. You might be over cleansing, and under moisturizing. Use more moisturizer, maybe a heavy cream if your skin is very dry. Apply a very hydrating mask and keep it on for fifteen minutes. The dermalogica masks are great!! Don't use clay products!!!
6. "How often should i get a facial?"
Every three to four weeks!
7. "What are chemical peels for?"
It is an effective treatment for acne, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. It gets rid of the dead skin cells, so you're able to grow new soft skin. It also increases collagen production.
8. "What are some good products I need to be using?"
To name a few, Dermalogica, GM Collins, Timeless Organics Skincare, REN, Caudalie, Kate Somerville, Clinique, Image
9. "Why isn't my moisturizer working?"
You probably aren't putting it on correctly. Don't drag the skin or dab it on. Massage the moisturizer into the skin using gentle pressure. Use circular motions.
10. "What are some easy skincare tips?"
Sleep with your hair away from your face, pull it back, that could be a reason you're breaking out.
Drink A LOT of water
Don't use scorching hot water on your face.
Stop picking at your skin!
Clean your makeup brushes and beauty blenders
Use a toner!
